Can Yıldırım (b. 1995, Istanbul) is an artist whose practice engages with the paradoxes and implications of living in a hyper-hypertextualized world on the verge of epileptic seizure. Within this oversaturated and entropic landscape, his works emerge from undercurrents of continuity— narratives, objects, and systems anchored in the present or in history—as well as from fleeting moments of transcendence; chance encounters, accidents, moments of awe and epiphany, and everyday gestures that expose the infrastructures and desires shaping contemporary life. Often beginning from language, text, space or incidental fragments, his works act as temporal reservoirs of meaning and potential sites of re-enchantment, momentarily resisting—or amplifying—the density of the present by assuming the forms of installation, sculpture, objects, text, video, and drawing. He received his BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Baltimore. He lives and works in Istanbul.
